Your Ultimate Earring Style Guide

Earrings are a timeless accessory, pssst.. they’ve been around since Mesopotamian civilizations existed (holy, that’s ~6,000 years ago). With a plethora of styles to choose from, navigating the world of earrings can be both exciting and overwhelming. In this earring style guide, I’ll walk you through two important things. You’ll learn about the style of earrings and common metals and materials.

Earrings By Style

Studs: Simplest earring type. Also known as the epitome of timeless simplicity. They’re small, understated earrings that sit close to the earlobe, making them perfect for everyday wear and young ones. They’re usually really subtle and you barely feel them.

Hoops: Hoops are circular-shaped in design and come in various sizes to offer a versatile look.

Dangles: Dangles come in different shapes and sizes and hang below the earlobe. Dangle earrings, also known as “drop dangles” add movement and flair to your look. Dangles typically have multiple layers, jewels, feathers, metal hardware, and other components.

Ear Jackets: These earrings wrap around your earlobe, often starting from the base to the top of your ear. They add the perfect modern edge to your look!

Chandelier: Chandelier earrings are the epitome of glamour and glitz. These earrings are often characterized by their cascading designs, often combined with gemstones, diamonds, or beads. These are perfect for bold statement moments.

Ear Cuffs: These are unconventional earring styles as they aren’t typically placed on the normal location of earrings. They “cuff” or wrap around the edge of your ear (similar to ear jackets).

So, as you explore the diverse world of earrings, remember that your choice of earrings is a personal expression of your style and individuality! Play around and have fun with it!
